If you running linux, my recommendation would be to just find an old shitter on craigslist/facebook marketplace and wipe it/put linux on there. If you really want something new, just go to best buy and get something with like a pentium. Startup might be a little slower, but once it's running it will do fine.
e/ Chromebook will work if you don't mind always having to be connected to the internetl; but if you work offline a lot, I wouldn't recommend it.
