Hello I'm planning on buying a desktop by April for my fiances birthday.

Any help or suggesstions would be greatly appreciated.

I would like a desktop computer. This computer will be used for basic social media, and Microsoft word, power point, so on...this is not for gaming.

I would like to try and get away with spending around $500 for the computer (not including monitor mouse keyboard)

At that budget, I would just get her basic ASUS desktop or some laptop at Best Buy.

I wouldn't, $500 is plenty. I'll post in a bit :)

Need to buy windows. Kinguin seems to be the go-to place for a cheap key. Never used it personally though

Lol @ recommending a six-core CPU for "basic social media, and Microsoft word, power point..." anyway xD

Kaby Lake-S Pentium G4600 on a decentish B250 motherboard powered by an also decentish 300W PSU will do that job perfectly fine.

I would recommend you still keep an SSD & 8GB of RAM (even though 4 would be sufficient).
