Check out this thing:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856164114

An all-in-one with a 7700K, 16GB of RAM, 256GB SSD, and a GTX 1070... with a 1 TB storage drive, 2x2 wireless... for just $1100.

7700K -> $330
MB -> $100
Ram -> $160
SSD -> $90
GTX 1070 -> $450

That alone is more than the computer. You basically get the case and fans, PSU, 1 TB storage, the nice wireless, and assembly all for free.

Does anyone see any downsides to this?

If factoring in $450 for a 1070, might as well get the 1080 for 479-500$

but it does look really nice, i just don't know about sufficient cooling / case airflow. as kaby runs hot

Yeah. A couple reviews of the 6th-Gen mentioned that it sounded as a hair dryer. Plus, as I just discovered, it has no listed Display Port but only HDMI 1.4. The picture of its bottom seem to show DP though?

Yeah it does look nice.

Another good deal I stumbled on:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856167162&cm_re=msi_trident-_-56-167-162-_-Product

MSI Trident 3 case, fans, MB with new Intel 2x2 wifi, Power Adapter, and a MSI 6GB GTX 1060 for $400. I think that GTX 1060 alone makes up 80% of the cost.

Add RAM, a SSD, and an i7 and you're looking at 9-1000 for a highly-rated mini build that most companies would charge way more for.

Possibly the power supply. ??

That Gigabyte system includes Windows 10, too.

Even with the big savings on the MSI, I could only throw together a similar system with a 7500 for the exact same price, and that's only running a 1060. It'd be a lot quieter though, but it also has that big power adapter.

I might actually go for this system. I was saving for a gaming laptop, but damn... It's hard to argue with the specs on this thing.

I think 400W would be enough. The 1070 only draws 180ish during load, with the processor drawing 65. The other demands might bump it to 300ish, leaving enough room. I certainly wouldn't expect to upgrade anything or, honestly, OC.

if you used enough refurbished kingston bargain ram and the lowest quality every other component like they probably did it might be doable

but yeah it does look good if true
