hi, i used to play some games 7-10 years ago on an old 500€ medion desktop, after that i bought a 200€ laptop that could run D2..
now i have a macbook 12 inch for daily use (internet/mails/writing/work things/etc) very relaxing on the couch, but u cant play a single game on it besided D2, + mac sucks for gaming anyway
but i would like to play some games again on the dead moments so i want to buy a desktop or a game laptop and i have no clue what's needed these days..

Games i would like to play:

OFFLINE:

- Starcraft 2
- Elder scrolls
- Total war franchise
- maybe GTA 6 when it comes out :p or smth like that ...

ONLINE:

- Dont know yet

Budget: dont know got money dont need to have a 3000€ computer to play these games i guesse ...

My thoughts: PRO /// CONTRA /// OTHER??

Desktop: cheaper for gaming /bigger screen / easy upgradable / better sound / Stationary (will have to sit at a desk in sepparate room) / ???

Laptop: More expensive / smaller screen/ Sound ??/ Can sit in the living room while GF watches TV / ???

things i need if desktop:

- EVERYTHING !! i dont even have a screen or mouse but if i would play desktop i think i would like 24" at least ...
i just have a 2.1 cheap sound system left from earlier and a headset... but it was a cheap headphone, hurts on my ears after 1 hour ... so would need a new one i guesse

What are your thoughts about it?

What are minimum stats these days for laptop / Desktop / 4K screen?????

- Processor
- RAM
- Video card (2-4-8GB???)
- SSD + HDD?
- Do u still need a disc drive these days??? got a portable DVD player/writer
- Special thoughts about mouse/keyboard (wireless or not ?) - dont need special ugly gaming mouse/keyboard for offline play ?

thanks for your advice :)

Regards,

Tim

I'd get a Ducky Shine 6 keyboard, and Pcpartpicker, isn't giving me any e-tailers for monitors.

ASUS, ACER, BenQ, DELL make good monitors.

Generally gamers are going for 27", 1440, 1ms, 144Hz monitors these days. IPS has better picture and gsync is for Nvidia vid cards, but both add a LOT to the price.

As for a mouse...I dunno, I just use a regular one, nothing fancy, but most like a gamers's mouse. Wireless, for mouse or keyboard, is not a great idea.

looks like a nice setup ... but do u really need 8GB video card/6-core etc etc to play games like starcraft 2 / elder scrolls / total war?
2K is alot imo without keyboard/mouse/monitor ...
i got no real budget .. but not looking for best possible game setup since i'm not a daily gamer, just for evenings when i'm not in gym / work / pub :p

as a laptop user i would recommend a desktop if gaming next to your gf is the only reason.

i use a gaming laptop because i have to. i travel a lot for work and sleep in hotel 50% of my time. i have to be on the portable gaming shit.

otherwise i would heavily prefer desktop as it is cheaper, faster and the screen is way better for the eyes bcuz of the size.

Well, you could get a GTX 1060 6GB instead. I just don't have any prices for the GTX 1060 6GB on Pcpartpicker.
As for the CPU, most are going with 6 or 8 core these days.

Here is the original build WITH the power supply this time...you can edit these parts lists.

Here is an AMD 1600 build...

Like I said, there are some things...that Pcpartpicker just doesn't have prices for. I only picked decent parts that DO have prices.
