So this is my current rig.

now this doesn't include any ssds or over clocks. I've got well over the amount of money for this but I'm exploring all options.

heres my debate, do I upgrade(CPU,VC,MB,SSD/STORAGE/FANS) OR do I find a pre built pc and upgrade the things I want. if I matched out the prices right for just upgrading the 5 things I said should be around $1,500 not including fans. but if I upgrade those things I feel like I mine as well just build a whole new PC. this pc is a gaming PC BTW. but I also want it to be lightening fast.

My pc is growing to be almost 4 years old and I think I need a upgrade a little bit. LMK you're thoughts below please.

new gpu
new cooler > oc that cpu
buy your ssd's
then you can invest into case/fans etc but the cpu and its platform is still very much relevant.

I like the second one but not a fan of liquid cool. I stick to fans.

With an 8700K you pretty much need an AIO cooler. They are too hot for air cooling, for the most part.

tweaked your build if he isnt overclocking and can reuse hdd it'd be even cheaper if he went with your ssd
just my 2 cents

$10 cheaper than the WD Blue M.2 SSD and just as fast.

I still wouldn't run air cooling on an 8700x. Unless planning to delid, it'll be a constant fight against thermals.

8700k here and it will be fine as long as he isnt overclocking, hence why I asked about overclocking and gave different mobo if he isnt overclocking, he prolly might not be able to use mce too so that would have to be disabled

and already stated ssd thing, m2 vs 2.5 depends on him for 10bucks difference
