Hey guys, looking to build a desktop with the main priority being gaming, as much time as I spend on computers my knowledge towards the actually hardware is limited.

I will give 500 fg or so to the build I decide to go with, will pay more than 500 if I am very impressed

Budget: 1200 CAD or so
Maximum you will spend? 1400.
Will you complete mail in rebates? - Yes
If so, may we go over-budget if rebates bring you within budget? - SLIGHTLY
Do you need Windows Operation System within budget? - Yes
Need a Monitor? / Mouse? / Keyboard within budget? - NO

Basic Info:
Specific Uses (Programs, game titles etc.) - Games (Pubg, WoW, CS, Diablo, etc)
Country? - Canada
Will you travel to NCIX (canada) or Microcenter (USA) for parts? (Null if unsure) - NO

How much hard drive space do you want or need? - Enough
Will you use wireless or wired internet? - Both
Will you overclock CPU and/or GPU? - Probably not
Any special requests or useful things to tell us? (Specific case, need lots of storage, audio etc.) - Best bang for my buck

Style (optional)
Do you prefer any specific colors for the build/computer case? - Nah, clean and sleek, black / greys / whites always good
Do you prefer a window on your case? - Dont matta

Hey there

Tbh im just looking for the best value, something that wont be considered obsolete in a year or two.

Im impartial to a window or not. Ill take either, is there any benefit to having a window? If so ill go that route.

Im looking to buy asap but if its more beneficial to wait a month for that id consider it.

No benfits whatsoever. Some people prefer the aesthetics of seeing the internal hardware.
If you don't care without a windows would be what to pick, then you don't have to think about perfect cable management either.

What monitor do you currently have? 60/120/144 or 165hz | 1080p, QHD or UHD?

If it's a 60hz monitor I would go with ryzen 1600 system without any doubt.

Decent starter monitor, I made a made PC for my little sister with that monitor last Christmas. http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=75420695&f=189

I would consider this the best price/performance.

You could easily downgrade that to GTX 1060 and still play mentioned games in ultra, and pretty much every AAA titles maxed out as well at 60hz/1080p.
But you also mentioned you might wanna upgrade your monitor. I highly recommend 144-165hz/1440p, which the gtx 1070 would pull nicely!.

Do you have any monitor suggestions?

Also how does AMD fair agaisnt Intel? My main games I would be playing would be Counter strike / Pubg. Would you consider this the optimal build for my price range?

a 7600k would yield slightly higher FPS because most games currently only use 2-4 cores right now. And the 7600k has higher clock speed.
But feels kinda like a rip off because the Ryzen 1600 has 2cores and 8 threads more for the same price. When ever games get programmed to used more cores this will be significantly better.

Also 7600k is 10bucks more AND you will need an aftermarket cooler which is another 20$+ more.

But i know CS is very glad for high single core performance. So if you want 200++ fps this is not the CPU for you.

If you could wait till end October Intel comes out with their new generation where i5 will be 6cores instead if just as good single core performance.

As for monitor in the lower price end 144hz you should look at Acer XF240H and BenQ XL2411.
