So next purchase would be an SSD for the new build.

Here is what I bought already, ignore the ssd in it, looking for one around 500gb

You won't notice a dffierence
450 vs 550
So find cheapest with size you want
With a decent brand

i picked up an adata su800 256gb for $89 nice performance for the cost

still works like it did out of box 2 months later at 2.9tbw and haven't seen it go above 52c even under the longest sustained sequential loads not much else i can say

Haven't seen slowdowns during use even during moving over 60 gb worth of folders to it, pretty impressive for a tlc drive of that size, the cache usually fills up and they slow to a crawl long before then
