Well i had an Alienware 17, i cant complain, i just upgraded to the newer model, but there was nothing wrong with the 17.

If you dont mind spending more, i would go for the newer model, but otherwise i wouldnt steer you away from it.

they started using desktop gpu's in laptops with the nvidia 10xx series

see if you can find a 1050 or better for your price range

ppl suck nvidias dick for putting desktop
gpus in laptops with 10xx series but
980m is a very stronk as it was still the pinnacle
of the m lineup;
shits on anything he can getin the $800 range
new. And the $900 range too.
he'd need to get one with a 1060
to only be about 10% better
for how much money?
lmao buy a hat and sit on the beach.
if he can find a 1050 ti laptop for $550 or less
should be better perf/$...
That's not going to happen.

yup looks like you're right, the 980m does outperform the 1050ti ... in which case he probably won't find a new 980m or 1060 for 800, much less under a grand (from a quick newegg search)

that's a hell of a deal grats
kaby lake has the exact same ipc as skylake but just runs warmer so you saved yourself some trouble going with that one instead anyway.
give it a mild 200mhz overclock and there will be no difference between the two in performance.
