So, the Ryzens came out- which ultimately, and as an AMD fan- of my $400 computer running an FX 8350. I have to say- was a failure.
(Before anyone asks, I got my FX 8350 for $75(BestBuy Black Friday sale), my GTX 1060 3gb for $160, motherboard for $60, and other components for the remaining)
The price point for Ryzens even at low-end is still too much for price per performance.
Because of the release of the Ryzen 1500+, the competitor(intel) has lowered their prices just ever so slightly to make even budget gaming intel only.
You cannot get the performance you need from AMD.
I am currently stuck with my 2 year old PC, which I comfortably build for originally $400, and upgraded it with a 1060 and sold my 750 ti for about $500 total. Getting my 1060 3gb onsale and factory refurbished for ~$160.
If I am to upgrade my computer- which CANNOT run PUBG at higher than 30 frames due to the FX-8350's POOR performance(and yes, I understand the game is unoptimized- but if it's stream-able on an i7 2400s that is a ridiculous statement of comparison) - I am NEVER looking at a Ryzen.
For the price-point it just makes sense to get something that is BETTER than a Ryzen 1500x, AND cheaper
The i3-7350k
and if I want a beefier CPU, why would I not just pick up an i5-2550k. Proven to work, doesn't require a $100 motherboard, and isn't limited to DDR4- which makes upgrading a pain if you already have your 16gb of DDR3, because now you have to sell half of your system instead of selling your motherboard + CPU- which is 10 billion times easier.
So if you're an AMD fan, you can't lie to yourself about not being impressed with Ryzen. The price has to come down. The 1800x is competing with nothing, it's strictly worse at that value than any intel cpu at similar or even lower price. Why not spend $100 less and get that i7 6700k for no risk. Why not get that i5 7600k for $200 less and be at the same performance.
