Hi there, I'm looking to upgrade my existing PC. I play a lot of emulator games, The Sims 3 + all EPs, Project Zomboid, Don't Starve, DotA 2, etc.

OS: Windows 10
Hard Drive: Samsung SSD 840 series 128GB
GPU: MSI GTX 560 Ti
CPU: Intel i5 3570K
RAM: 8GB DDR3
Mobo: MSI Z77A GD65
Other: Have a wireless LAN card, but use ethernet, no additional cooling
Location: Ontario

Thanks!

I'd do this...

GTX 1060 or 480 (or higher depending on budget / wants)
480+gb ssd
8gb more ram

Building new won't yield huge results unless your doing A LOT of editing.

What motherboard?
And do you really need to upgrade. Your needs are not really heavy.

it can't hurt lol
but yeah his system is fine aside from storage.

Oops. Forgot to include that.
MSI Z77A GD65

Edit: I also forgot to mention..I LOVE playing The Sims 3. Maybe it's how the game was built. But when I have all the expansion packs installed and I play on my existing set up, it chugs like hell.

@SSD, not sure if I really need the storage. I use an external for all my shows/movies/emulator games. I try to keep my main SSD as minimal as possible. I love the SSD for booting up my computer quickly (and some PC games). Are there any other benefits other than storage (i.e. wouldn't it make more sense to get a HDD at a cheaper cost)?

The ssd will remove load time son games.
I mean all games benefit from it realistically.
The larger the game the more it helps.

Your gpu and cpu are more then capable of handling the games listed.
Extra RAM won't benefit you much but will help with multitasking.

The gpu essentially will give you more fps and support better resolutions later on.

I have the same CPU and it's definitely good

shoot for a 1060 GPU, also your ram might be fine depending, I use 8 gb DDR3 with 1333 mghz and i've been fine, games don't really max that atm for me i still play GTA 5 ultra. also I have a gtx 1060 3gb

Literally the only thing wrong is your GPU & RAM

Get 8gb + 1060 6gb

Should cost you ~250 in total

MSI Z77A GD65 has 4 ram slots, buy 2 4GB sticks for $6-10 each on ebay

Buy a GTX 1060 Factory Refurbished from Amazon for $230

you have the opposite problem I am facing.

I have a shit AMD CPU, and a GTX 1060. I get 20-30 FPS on PUBG. Believe me, 1 part can completely fuck your gaming experience. Never buy AMD.

Ive only ever bought amd and have never had a problem. Telling someone to never buy something because of your personal bad experience is dumb. Amd is great for a budget gamer. The fx 80 and 90 series are still great cpu's.
