/edit I forgot to mention that I primarily use my computer to play Path of Exile, minecraft, fortresscraft evolved, and a few other steam games. The primary reason for upgrading is for a smoother experience in PoE.

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H LGA 1155
Processor: Intel Core i3-3225 @ 3.3GHz 4 cores
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960
(other stuff)
RAM 2x 8gig DDR3
OS/type Windows 7 64 bit
Power supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 B2 (850W)
HDD: 1 Terabyte
SSD 128 gigabyte

If I upgraded the mobo+processor I would probably buy new memory as well.

It is installed on SSD, but there are situations in which it could run better, load times could be decreased, and QoL (Could turn graphics up and use some laggier builds) would be nice.

Get process hacker and put cpu/gpu usage history on your taskbar, play path of exile windowed, when the lags get bad i guarantee you'll see gpu usage drop dramatically as your cpu gets maxed out ,as far as the engine can anyway, which for 4 threads is about 70%.

An Ivy Bridge i5 would be your best bet for an easy low effort upgrade that makes path run significantly smoother, if you decide against just replacing the entire platform. Doubling the amount of physical core resources available will make a big difference, HT on a dual core is way better for lots of little tasks than a 2c/2t chip but at the end of the day, a 2-thread core only has like a 10% advantage over a single threaded core when you're utilizing all of their resources to a single task like PoE's garbo engine.

Also path is having to share cycles with all the low level os and kernel shit due to your deficit of cores, you could dedicate three cores of an i5 entirely to poe if you wanted to. It doesn't use more than that anyway.
