what kind of gfx card can i sli with my current one and does/can my mother board support 2?

Better off selling the 970 & picking up a 1070 or 1080.

you can only sli a card with the exact same card i believe, there may be a few exceptions but the speed will be limited by the lower frequency anyways

Any 970 will work. It will just lower the clocks to the slowest of the two.

evga 850 bronze psu (i had a 1050 cooler master but it just died recently so maybe cm will replace it)
is there a way i can add a hdmi port to my current card? i have 2 monitors atm and want to hook up my unused monitor and would prefer to not convert my dvi to hdmi

you get aprox 1.5 x more performance it doesn't exactly scale as one might think. 2 doe snot mean 2x.

It does, But IIRC a 1070 will be faster than 2x 970's anyways.. And less heat / issues with games. About the same price after you sell your current 970.

well im thinking whole new pc as i have a gfx card and psu now but idk... been wanting to build another one neway ty for the help guys
