so i just ordered a new computer case already have it. im stuck on whether i should upgrade my cpu and mobo and memory or just upgrade to more memory. the cpu is 1155 socket and im not really seeing much that uses that. it seems theres way more options with 1151. ive wanted to get one of the gaming mobos but would they be worth it vs what i already have? ive had this setup for about 4-5 years now if nothing else im definitely upgrading the ram.

Well, I would get a serious vid card...maybe an SSD.

When to upgrade is always tough. A lot depnds on your budget and if you have use for TWO PCs.

IF, you decide to upgrade, this is about what you should be looking at...assuming Intel/Nvidia.

just upgrade gpu

then even if you want to upgrade further in the future you can migrate your gpu to your new setup

thanks for all the input as i wasnt sure whether to keep my current mobo/cpu or upgrade. i am keeping them and i just ordered new memory to max my memory out (32gb) and will be getting a new gfx card not too long from now. and i have been considering upgrading to a full ssd for the system itself to run from. the 2tb currently installed is a hybrid ssd

What do you do to need 32gb ram?

You bought 32gb ddr3 ram?
Your cpu/mobo will be either dead or just not viable before you would be needing that amount.

Doesn't seem to future proofing when you can't even use ddr3 with the newer cpus.

Honestly I would just drop some money on a new build if your idea is to future proof.
