So, after spending too much money, I've found that a 6950X is horrible for gaming. It's single core benchmarks are not that great. So, I'm making a new build and putting the 10 core down to just video and graphics work.
Some items I have purchased already but wanted to get some input on the remaining purchases I've made.

If anyone has better experience with the new Z270 boards I would appreciate your input.

Its not "horrible" for gaming. You can get pretty much same single core performance when overclocking.
But yeah price/performance is hmmm.

$1500 for the CPU alone didn't justify the benchmarks.

Even in CPU intensive games like Miscreated it wasn't spectacular. It's now at my office running a server box for the moment

you honestly have more than enough cpu power

i got the i5 6600 3.3ghz w/ a gtx1060 and every game i play runs amazing

you dont really need more than an i5 for gaming just my opinion
