Budget: 1000$ ( the lower the better, if you guys think i can get away with spending less, thats a huge + )
More specific use (what games, what programs): Will only be used for office work. Big excel files with lots of formulas, adobe acrobat.
Planned time until purchase: tomorrow
Do you need an Operating System?: no
Do you have any specific preferred components?: Would prefer intel but you tell me.
Do you need a sound or wireless card?: No
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: No OC.
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: No
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): Montreal, Quebec

I don't need a case. ATX Motherboard fits in the case i already own

250gb SSD required, no HDD required.

Canadian dollars pls.

I know these programs dont need lots of horsepower to use them but i'd like big excel files to open quick and stuff.

No graphics card needed im guessing.

Pretty much maximum performance will be granted to excel with any ok processor and an ssd with sufficient ram.

ghots is ridiculous overkill.
mine is also probably overkill. excel is limited on the resources it can use.

Idk how big your files are, but I've worked with data-sets as large as ones put out by United states medicare and it just seemed to ignore most of my everything.

That looks perfect.

My excel files arent as big as that but the thing is there's a fuckton of formulas in them. Thats the part im worried about. But i heard the hyperthreading helps a LOT for that.

Dude you can just buy some crappy pre-built for like 200 dollars and be completely fine. My work did that, I think it was like 120 dollars. I run excel every day with multiple other things up.

Doesn't really lag at all, if I had a SSD it'd be perfect.

Here you go

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/QdT8xY

I would honestly up to 16gb of RAM just because it makes life easier for many tasks

this is a 6-core AMD processor which will work much better if you run a lot of stuff simultaneously, as most office persons do (I know I would have 4-5 spreadsheets, powerpoint, IE with a dozen tabs, etc)

Micro ATX case with included power supply saves money and space

Processor is an APU so has a decent graphics built into it if you ever need it for anything

You can easily save money by going down to a 4-core FX processor or up it to a higher end processor if you want to future proof a bit

Overkill? Probably, but also going to be good bang for your buck in a package that works for a cubicle or office environment

Don't do this...trust me when I say that this route will lead you to an outdated computer far faster, and the time spent loading/waiting for shit will far outweigh the cost of spending a bit more....

Quantify this: If it takes someone 5 extra minutes in load times every day, times 5 days a week, times 50-ish work weeks a year, times the expected lifetime of an office PC (roughly 5 years)

6,250 minutes or 104ish hours of downtime

times $20/hour and you are looking at a loss of $2083 in productivity
