Currently on 2500k platform as you all know, doing my reading about the Kaby Lake 14nm platform

seems like it should be a mild upgrade over Skylake

my big problem is knowing what kind of potential could be unlocked for christmas 2017 10nm architecture from cannonlake....

I know either chipset will make my 2500k look like anus, but i MIGHT be able to survive ditching my stock cooler and going from 3.8 to like 4.5, but the processer is really starting to show its age and im not even sure if i can get another year from it

thoughts on chipset?

maybe even Ryzen is worth a look?

2500k will survive another year, yeh just buy a sweet ass cooler and u should be ok for well over a year :)

When time comes for an upgrade, just use the cooler u bought earlier for that one!

Better go with skylake now than wait for upcoming 14nm.

Havent read into ryzen yet, at holiday :)
