So in my last build upgrade a few weeks ago I added water cooling via HG10 Corsair GFX card adaptor and a H115i. Gpu idles at 24C. Overclocked 600mhz memory clock, 225 core clock, 106% power and 87mv I get to 37C under 100% load.

Question, as far as I can tell I can't overclock this 980TI much past this point without crashes. Is this true? If that is the case, wtf is the point of water cooling? Just so I can be happy that under load it's cold?

Still new to overclocking and flirting with a lot of things. Obviously I have much to learn. Letting MSI motherboard overclock my cpu but the cpu doesn't go over 50C when under 100% load. I like the cool temperatures but it doesn't seem like I'm getting the most out of my setup. i7-6800k

whats the stock settings for that 980ti also manually overclocking is prob better than motherboard presets for oc. what u running at atm?

What 980 ti?

Also what are the overclocked clock speeds?

Core Clock 1000 MHz
Boost Clock 1076 MHz
Memory Clock 7010 MHz

That's base settings for this Zotac model. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA70F4TV8133&cm_re=980_ti-_-9SIA70F4TV8133-_-Product
Obviously that cooler is gone, it's the H115i now.

Not sure what the total boost is as afterburner only shows me fluctuations depending on gpu usage and not maximums that typically show up during a stress test. At 87% power/80% usage right now its showing gpu clock 1440mhz, mem clock 4104mhz, 1243mv. Been at 80% for a few hours finally broke 37, at a blistering 38C.

Use GPU Z to find out these numbers better. It shows your overclock but also has graphs which also note your min/max numbers. You'll notice that your card will boost about 100 mhz higher than whatever its clocked to.

also be careful with memory overclocking because often times, upping your memory can actually take power from the card and reduce your maximum core clock, so you'll want to monitor your maximum core clocks as you increase or decrease your memory. While you can chalk this up to being "unstable" its possible that you do this and your card is also, in every other way, completely stable.

Also you'll need to get a custom bios to unlock the voltage for your card if you haven't already. Nvidia cards come with a lot of voltage restriction.

I've been measuring all of the changes I make via 3dmark. Raising the memory clock squeezed more performance but not by much. Never saw any drops from raising the memory clock. As far as needing a custom bios that's the first time I've heard of this. Msi command center seems to allow me to change any voltage associated with the MB. I'll look into it more.

You dont NEED a custom bios, But if you plan on really pushing the card, You will want it.

It unlocks more voltage, Higher power limit, Etc.

So it is possible to push the card further? People saying it'll become unstable are n00bs? If I turn the fan off on the card it runs at 40C overclocked under load, so it raised 3C. Don't even need the fan the watercooler adaptor came with. Computer is whisper quiet right now, although doesn't matter to me I use headphones.

It all depends on the card. But yes, A custom bios can/will let you push your card further than the stock bios.

And you're wrong, you REALLY need the fan that is attached to the HG10 bracket. It's literally the only thing cooling your voltage regulators.

Thanks, wish I read this before. I wonder if it has anything to do with why my gpu just crashed for the first time since the overclock.
