OK a buddy of mine recently moved in with us and we are starting to get bandwidth problems and the router periodically just cuts out (like 5 years old). We both game and both watch Netflix at the same time typically. And starting to get major lag spikes were games freeze up for a few seconds at a time.
Typically connections on a daily basis include
5 cell phones
1 basic laptop used for mainly browsing
1 tablet
2 gaming pcs running 1 game and 1 instance of Netflix, typically forums will be open and browsing on mine as well with both of us running discord voice chat.
1 TV streaming in the living room.

Router & modem or combo unit will be mounted under my desk with likely a direct ethernet connection or whatever to my pc.
House is 2200sq foot, with my buddy gaming in the basement and me upstairs. My room with the router is in the corner of the house with him in the complete opposite corner I'm the basement.

What's a good router & modem or combo unit to look into? Really want to stay under 100$, might stretch to 150 if necessary.

What's your download and upload speeds from your ISP? A new router may help maintain a stronger signal, but your speeds are capped to whatever you pay for, if you're only getting say 20mbps down streaming 3-4 devices simultaneously while doing other things will cause connection issues.

We have the 90mbs charter packer. reason I am thinking I could use a router upgrade is because it randomly cuts out.
This is the same package our local gaming cafe (before they closed recently) used and would have 20 people gaming with voice chat on the same wifi connection.

However it very well could just be the service provider.
