so I thought my 7970 had died, did some mem tests and after 24 hours of troubleshooting, the card seems to be functioning OK. I do, however, have an RX480 8GB sitting in a box next to me and I'm seeing some positive things about the card. I cannot be sure of my 7970 living longer than 5 minutes or 10 years, is there anything happening soon that might make it worthwhile me just taking this card back and waiting it out? Anything new early in the year?

Leaning towards taking it back but a big part of me just wants to keep it.

To be honest this card is going to be overkill for what I need, I play a bit of CS:GO and some Warframe and that's about it. Got it on sale so it wasn't expensive :)

Otherwise, continue with the 7970 till it dies and prices might be even cheaper.

U can always buy another 480 if u need some more power later via second hand.
