Finally gonna break down and spend about $300-$400 max on upgrading my pc to run BF1. I'm thinking maybe a 1050 and a fx-8350 if it will work with my current mobo? What do you guys suggest?

Current specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
ASRock 970 EXTREME4
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB
XFX HD-695X-CNFC Radeon HD 6950 2GB
HITACHI 500GB 7200 RPM HDD
OCZ ZS Series 650W 80PLUS Bronze PSU
LG 22X Super-Multi DVD Burner
COOLER MASTER Elite 430
COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 EVO

dont waste $$ buying 8350.
get a 4460/h97 mobo with a 1050

would a used pny 970 for about $125-$150 off craigslist be a better buy than the 1050? I don't upgrade my rig that often so looking for something that will last.

Yes,
Look for a 390, at that price point. it will last longer
If not, def take that 970 for 125

Agree with the 970.
If not 970 look @ Rx 470/480/1060 3gb/6.

I'd probably just put it all in graphics and sit on that cpu. It's still quite good!
If you don't like performance after getting new graphics, start considering a processor upgrade then to either the latest skylake/kaby lake intel (if its out by the time you decide this) or the Zen line from amd if its viable/out.

But the 8350 wouldn't really be worthwhile from that processor Imo
