Not better. Have close to the same features and quality. Its cheaper tho.
I myself have a MSI z97 gaming 5, very similar to the one you picked. So no fanboy involved :)

BTW I just checked. If you wanna order it all from newegg you can just add $12 total. (last 3 things on the list)

I do like your builds.
The only thing you really NEED to change is the NEX series PSU.
And do not buy a K model CPU without Z170 chipset mobo like your build #1

Do you advise on purchasing extra case fans? Anything else i should know before purchasing thanks alot for your info. I plan on ordering on Thursday
