My partner bought a PC that was advertised as a great gaming PC a couple years back. Naturally, it came with an overwhelmingly powerful CPU and not much else.
I was able to pass down a couple random parts that I had around but nothing of any significance.
We are looking to upgrade it with the eventual hope being to be able to leave it in the lounge as a media center that can also handle some couch gaming.

Here are the current parts.

What parts should be reused? What should be prioritised when purchasing upgrades?

Budget: $800 NZD
More specific use: HTPC, web-browsing, light gaming (low-mid settings, played through a TV from a couches distance away).
Planned time until purchase: Next 3 days
Do you need an Operating System?: No
Do you have any specific preferred components?: I would like a CPU cooler - the stock 8320 fan is far too noisy for an HTPC.
Do you need a sound or wireless card?: No
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: CPU Cooler needed - the ideal solution would be focused more on minimising sound rather than maximising performance.
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: No
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): New Zealand

My current list of priorities are:

    [1]SSD - (About $80 NZD for 120GB)
    [2]Case - Likely Fractal Design Define S ($180)
    [3]CPU Cooler- Likely Hyper 212 ($63)
    [4]Video card

However, I am a novice and would greatly appreciate any support. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

1. Get SSD - Mushkin or samsung evo imo
2. New PSU - Almost anything is better lol
3. Upgrade Gpu based on games played, cant recommend psu till we know what gpu u need

The evo is fine

Sounds like good advice.
I'll pull the trigger on the first two and a CPU cooler to begin with. After purchasing those three, I will see if the current case and mother board can fit it all. That will dictate the following purchases.

Thanks :)

Once again we can not recommend a good psu till we know what gpu you need.
Focus on case/cooler and ssd. then list games for psu/gpu.

that cooler will fit in that case also.
