Hi there,

a friend of mine is looking to get a new PC, i suggested building one from scratch to get more power for his dollar, rather than buying a prebuilt from staples or something

It's been a long time since I have built a computer, and I'm not so sure on what to pick these days, so I was wondering if I could get some help for him here

his budget is 700-800$ canadian (newegg probably) leaning more towards the 700 end of the spectrum

he wants to play newer games on it, in particular he wants to play The witcher 3 on high/ultra

can a computer on this budget even run something like that? what price range should he be looking at if not?

Edit- he just needs the tower, he has all his peripherals already

that's a more "future proof"way to go. you really don't need DDR4 right now, meaning cpu/ram/mobo options can be different and cheaper. fx 8320 would be a good pair with a 1060.

Little bit down the road, Swap in a 4690k cpu, And a ssd & you're good for a few years.

Not a whole ton you can do with $700-800 CAD.

Oh.. Just noticed he already has a case.. Could use the extra $$ to get a better gpu.

Witcher is going to be hard to play on high @ $700
