stupid me purchased dominator 9-9-9-24 when i have 7-7-7-20

there both exactly the same just different clock speeds anyway

to make the 9-9-9-24 work with 7-7-7-20?

Like CAS etc is not the same as well.

Do they support XMP ?

clock to the slower ones or overclock the others, but the overclocking one can have its issues for stability and might not notice til randomly

If you just got them recently...send them back and get the right ones.

Pretty much, the secret to RAM buying is this:

If you want 8GB total, buy a 2x 4GB set.

If you want 16GB total, buy a 2x 8GB set.

This is for a dual channel motherboard, obviously. For a quad channel board, if you wanted 32GB, you would buy a 4x 8GB set.


You get the idea. The old set, can be saved for emergencies, or, like you said, sold on a website.

unless min maxing wouldn't he not notice much difference to clock the faster ram at the slower speed?
