Currently I have an Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3225 CPU @ 3.30 GHz.
My current Mobo is a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H-WB with a LGA 1155 socket.
This is not strong enough to host a semi-heavily modded minecraft server and play at the same time without having minor annoyances. I Play Path of Exile with my gf and I noticed that I have more issues with lag, longer loading times (both of us are on SSDs), and just overall weird crap happening in game than she does. We are both hardwired with good internet, and are using the same internet (she sits a couple feet away from me when we play).
I am willing to replace both the mobo and processor if the price is right because I also want to make a little computer to host game servers and stuff on later.
Post thoughts. Thank you.

Get a used i5 3570k or i7 3770k.
Should be 150-200$
- You can overclock it on that motherboard to like 4.2Ghz on like a evo212 for about 30$.

Thid. However its easy to reach 4.5ghz, and 4.8 should be doable!

Indeed. But considering its most likely gonna run 24/7 because of the MC server. I would prefer lower clocks to keep it under 65c max load.
