Hey guys! I know I already made a thread about it some months ago but I still haven't made my choice XD
So I'll be at university in a month and I need a new comp.
I'm not that good with computers so I'd love if someone could help me out on that.
I prefer a laptop and will be using it for University programs, League of Legends and probably Twitch streaming
Budget: 1000-1200$ CAD
Also a friend suggested that I buy a shitty laptop for uni and invest the rest in a good gaming PC, what do you guys think?
If you have any other questions, ask

I agree with the 2nd option, of buying some 300 dollar laptop for your work horse, then get the desktop for heavy lifting. This way you can keep your laptop the same and upgrade your desktop overtime, rather than upgrading your laptop every 2-3 years to get the best experience or dealing with the obvious overheating laptop/lower graphics.
if you decide to go that route, be sure to fill in the sticky.
Budget:
Maximum you will spend? -
Will you complete mail in rebates? -
If so, may we go over-budget if rebates bring you within budget? -
Do you need Windows Operation System within budget? -
Need a Monitor? / Mouse? / Keyboard within budget? -
Basic Info:
Specific Uses (Programs, game titles etc.) -
Country? -
Will you travel to NCIX (canada) or Microcenter (USA) for parts? (Null if unsure) -
How much hard drive space do you want or need? -
Will you use wireless or wired internet? -
Will you overclock CPU and/or GPU? -
Any special requests or useful things to tell us? (Specific case, need lots of storage, audio etc.) -
Style (optional)
Do you prefer any specific colors for the build/computer case? -
Do you prefer a window on your case? -
*(Please note how picky you will be with colors. Sometimes it's just not feasible to get some colors on certain parts)*

Look into a cheap Chromebook. I think Asus makes a decent one for < $200 (USD).

With your budget, it'll be either a desktop OR a laptop.
Just did a quick search on Canadacomputers...and this would be the best laptop in your price range...

/e Generally what you are looking for is this:
6000 series Intel i7 CPU
16GB RAM
128GB SSD + 1TB HDD
GTX 960m
15.6 to 17.3 inch screen (IPS)
In the U.S. this would probably be the laptop to get with your budget...just for an example...
