I'm just a 2nd year student but I enjoy building computers and I would like to build one that I can use for autocad and the likes (mechanical engineering). I'd also like to play some games at decent settings, but not necessarily brand new games on the highest settings. I am looking to purchase soon but not within a week so I would just like ideas on what I need or what to look for.

Budget: ~$800
More specific use (what games, what programs): RPG's, Space games, anything new and cool but doesn't need to be full blast settings
Planned time until purchase: ~1.5 months
Do you need an Operating System?: No
Do you have any specific preferred components?: I've got 2x sticks of 8gb Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz already (10-10-10-27)
Do you need a sound or wireless card?: No
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: Not sure, looking for insight.
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: Monitor
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): 98056

What are your preferences in case style? Clean, will plan on wire tucking, but not really into flashy lights and things, prefer more professional look.
Are you planning to use multiple monitors? Not unless necessary (iso: insight)
Are you looking for upgrade-ability? Yes, but not a big problem if we can get better deals w/o considering it
Do you have any preferred brands? No.
Can you reuse any components from an older build? RAM stated above, a couple case fans.
Is there anything else you think we should know? I've built a PC before but don't have extensive knowledge on the inner workings (always willing to learn tho)

With the way the market is, there is no point in making a build now. Post again about 1-3 days before you are ready to purchase.

If you want or need to include a monitor, try getting the budget up to about $1000.
