I have a Radeon R9 200 series with 2GB memory GDDR5, 1150mhz core clock, and 1500 mhz memory clock. its no longer sold anywhere so i cant find the specific one.
i get frequent frame drops in games like Overwatch and Total War: Warhammer, but i dont know if its because of my GPU or something else. (low-medium settings)

other specs:
8GB RAM
AMD FX 8350 4.0GHZ
Radeon Sapphire R9 200 series 2gb card
1TB hard drive
some 50$ MSI Mobo

looking for upgrades, but not sure if the GPU would be the best upgrade for me.

Your budget would help

R9 480
Or gtx 1070 if you want to spend $200
More

Also, don't buy the reference cards, wait for other brands.

Wait for processor /motherboard /ran upgrade until Zen comes out and then decide then.

RX 480 for about 250$ should synergise fine with an FX 8350

Which 200 series card is it?

I just looked at my brothers computer last weekend and he has a 6850 and was running Overwatch at or near max settings at 60fps after I updated his drivers (he hadn't updated since I built the computer)

If it is like a 290 or something your GPU shouldn't be the issue.

get hwmonitor or another similar utility and let it run in the background. see if your temps on the cpu/gpu are getting above 80C also watch for utilizations and see if they ever hit 100%
