Hey guys,

Last pc I built was 08 or 09 figured time for an upgrade. My budget is about $1000 Canadian. Looking for best bang for my buck.

I do 3d modeling and rarely animation, so something that can render a still in less then 4 hours would be nice.

I also game but really it's like eve, path of exiles, runesvape and fo4/ warhammer total war for single player games.

I would like a decent graphics but not sure how it will interfere with costs of rest.

As for the processor I have always used aMD the last one being a phenom 4 so not sure about the Intels if anyone has some good points or reading materials on it would love it.

Would like a minimum 8 gb ram.

Motherboard/cooling/case. I got no idea.

Was thinking a cheap ssd since you can get them like 60$ and then a tb. Hdd. For storage.

Any input is welcome, as this is my first post in this sub forum.

*Edit* also I am starting school again in Sept. I gave a Samsung s2 tablet I was going to take notes and stuff on, but if anyone knows a laptop in my budget that can do all that adequately I'd love to hear.

The bottom line
AMD and Intel have battled for two decades, but in recent years the battle has become a bit one-sided. New Pentium and Core chips have slowly edged out AMD at a variety of price points.
If you have a high budget, then Intel is obviously the way to go. This remains true until your budget falls low enough that the cheapest Core i5 quad is no longer an option for you. AMD just can’t compete with Intel’s best.

Intel has its perks. Even the company’s dual-cores are surprisingly competitive with Intel quads in intense workloads. Intel chips are also far more power efficient, so they tend to produce less noise and heat. There are situations where AMD makes sense, but the company has been reduced to depending on niche scenarios. If you can’t make up your mind, go Intel. It’s likely the better choice for you.

I use blender mostly. It's a great program. Started with wing's 3d it's easy to learn but limited. Blender has great tutorials. I use may a for more intense stuff.

Also thanks for the breakdown

Thats very cool.
I believe this build would be the best in your budget.

Personally I would have upgraded to a i7 6700k and RX 480. But a budget is a budget :)

By going for a intel K + z170 chipset your build would stay relevant for longer. compared to like a 6500 + B150.
