Budget: ~5000$
More specific use (what games, what programs): 10 Boxing Wow, Running a Minecraft Server, as well as a few VMs for other various things.
Planned time until purchase: 2-3 weeks.
Do you need an Operating System?: No.
Do you have any specific preferred components?: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/Qmsbjc
Do you need a sound or wireless card?: No.
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: Overclocking.
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: No.
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): 55106 (irrelevant really)

No mail in rebates if possible.
Budget is flexible towards more money if there is a compelling reason as to why.
Preferred list is just that, preferred. The exception being processor and graphics cards, they are required. My current setup isn't much worse than these two, and that's why they are required.

Biggest input that I would appreciate:
Motherboard (option of quad SLI when cards become cheaper/I add more monitors)
An explanation of why I should or shouldn't get this board would be helpful. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/8Q648d/gigabyte-motherboard-gax99psli
Memory (bouncing back and forth between gskill and corsairs due to price, 3k is 3k)
CPU Cooler

Yes I know this is overkill, yes I do want/need all of this, no I do not want to do a server board instead.

New cards aren't going to quad sli

But more cards can help for some of your needs

Plus look at ws mobos from asus or asrock

Or might want to look at xeon too

3/4 SLI will be supported by some games and still be theoretically possible, nvidia is just refusing to support it themselves. However I have more than just that reason for those. Having a card dedicated for browsing or just showing useless information would be nice as well, it doesn't necessarily need to be another gtx 1080. Oddly enough nvidia is promoting their hd bridge for 4 way regardless :/

I was thinking more of grabbing the corsair air 540, the amount of space would be a nice change.

I'm not necessarily trying to save money on the mobo, the problem I'm having is understanding the basic reasons why some boards are double to triple the cost, when they don't have anything on them that makes me think that I should pay more.

Good ideas here.

Does anyone know off hand the number of monitors supported by a single GTX 1080, going to be big problems if it's minimal.
