How does this look?
http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/JHNpbj

It's really hard to pick a GPU right now because the markets wonky due to the 1070/1080 and the R9 480.
None of the older cards have sufficiently dropped in price yet, except the 980 ti. if you aren't buying immediately, i would suggest either an r9 480 to lower costs, or possibly a 1070 once they come in stock (mostly out of stock/low supply causing increase priced, msrp is 370 usd)

So basically right now if you buy anything other than a 980 ti, you are kind of wasting money, and even a 980 ti isn't the best choice, because the 1070 is about = to 980 ti. which should come down cheaper.
I hope I have adequately explained the gpu crisis for you ^_^

If you aren't purchasing for a few weeks, this is better as we should have some good choices by then.

Edit: once the gpu's settle, it's likely we can fit in a non OC i7 as well if you go for the 480 or an older gen gpu that has cheapened due to the new cards.

I'll take a close look tomorrow since I need some sleep!

But I guess I forgot to mention I would prefer a monitor around 24"
Also, I'm willing to wait a couple weeks but no more than that

Any chance you could also make some recommended adjustments if I were to go for $1000 instead of $1200?

Modified, with an Rx 480 in mind
http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/N3ZQVY
it releases in 3 days and the 4gb variant is 200usd, which translates roughly to 260 cad.
Edit:
Also threw in the i7, though if you aren't streaming, the i5 is a perfectly reasonable choice if you needed something else for the budget.

Also that mobo is the lowest price it's ever been in canadian history. if it's appealing i would get it before it goes up. ^_^
