got this build from here couple of years ago, but i'd like to get a new monitor with 144 hz, but im not sure if i can even run it and if not what i would need to change and what it would cost me
motherboard asus p8p67 pro
cpu intel i5 2500k
8gb ram corsair
gpu gtx 580 evga 1.5gb
2x hard drive 1x ssd windows 500gb and wd black series 500gb for movies etc..

donno if im missing something here or not..
looking for some guidance since i dont know the first thing about pc's

Every PC will support 144 Hz.
The thing however, unless you are able to push that many frames, you will not actually see them.

60 Hz monitors display up to 60 frames. Meaning if you are getting 100 fps, you are only seeing 60.
therefore, 144 hz display up to 144 frames. Meaning you will see all 100 fps you are getting, but only those 100 and not more.
Thus unless you are gaming at 720p, i do not think that your 580 will be pushing enough frames in those games to actually make a difference for you.

You could consider upgrading the GPU.
but sure 144hz with be displayed.
