Hey guys and gals,

I am wondering how I can improve air flow in my computer, I have the idea that my processor fan is going the wrong way, will it help a lot to change this?

This is how my setup looks with fan directions included:

Any other suggestions?

Would be glad if you could help me, thanks.

Kind regards,

Coen

You need to change the way the rear exhaust is.. Lol you have it blowing the hot CPU heat right back into the cooler

Thanks for the replies!

Yeah I figured, I've had this setup for a couple weeks after I bought a motherboard + cpu + cooler already mounted.

The front fan is not so strong airflow, and I can't find a way to change the rpm, I only managed to change the rpm of the fan on the back of the computer, so with that in mind would one of the 3 setups on the image be ideal/better?

Thanks!

your option one.

That would create a postive airflow if not close to neutral.
Right now your system can't really get rid of heated air. And must pull in quite a lot of dust?

You can probably buy better or more fans...for w/e you want/need them.

Also, you have the vid card and power supply fans drawn the wrong way...they don't work like you have drawn them...

With what you DO have...this is the best option...

This is the proper way for air flow...inside a case....

You do not have to worry about the vid card and power supply. They operate the way they should.

Air flow doesn't matter really and only raises temps a few C.

There was a linux tech tips video on it where they basically shoved the PC full of books and blankets and benched it.

I personally use the largest and minimal number of fans as it keeps the dust down, the noise down, and moves enough air even though it doesn't really matter. I use 140mm exhaust, 2x 140mm intakes.

Larger fans are usually more quiet as they can spin at lower rpms and move just about as much air as a smaller fan can.

Air flow does matter when you are using a cheap case like he is.
I don';t care wht LinusTechTips says...in my own case I have tried various options, and have gotten the lowest temps...BY FAR...in the arrangement I have shown.

When I say lowest temps...I mean by 10-15C difference.

Things like the OP having the rear exhaust fan blowing INTO the the CPU cooler...backwards, should be an obvious no-no, to anyone.

/e As for DUST....the fans and there directions, also make a huge difference.

The way the OP has the rear exhaust fan and the CPU cooler fan in the pic in post #1...will fill the CPU cooler heat sink with dust.

/ee Lastly, anyone knows...that you always have the airflow from front to back in a case. If you don't...then the rear fan will just suck the hot air, exhausted by the power supply and the vid card back into the case. Not a good idea.
