GIGABYTE GA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard
AMD FX-6300 Vishera 6-Core 3.5 GHz cpu
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) ram
EVGA 430Watt power supply
DIYPC Cuboid-G case

Hard drive and GPU still undecided. Should I go for it? Any recommendations welcomed.

Use another 20$ for an intel i3 6100 build.

"but, but FX 6300 has 6core and i3 only has 2core/4threads". Bullshit AMD really does shit in most benchmarks and specially games.
And its only 47W compared to 95W AMD

so price/performance the i3 is actually the winner.

Thanks for the recommendation, I will look into it. I'd rather have Intel but I've heard that some of the new games have problems with dual core processors.

Depends on price, but it's not bad. Also I3's have hyperthreading so games actually look at them as 4 cores, and they do usually beat the performance of 6300/8300. However you can find sales of 6300/8300 which can make them relevant.
recommend a 370 for the gpu, else wait for nvidias new card to take market hold, may lower prices of all gpus, since their new 200 dollar gpu is going to be far more powerful than their current sub 200 dollar gpus.

What is.. your... budget?

That's all that fucking matters.

None of those parts you listed is a good buy apart from the gskill ram.

I'd just like to spend as little as possible without making a piece of crap. Because of ZwiX's recommendation I am now planning on making an i3-6100 build.

Right now the motherboard I want is on sale and on top of that newegg has a combo deal with the i3 and the motherboard for $185 http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.2728706
so this part list is what I plan on buying unless anyone has any other recommendations.

I just bought a hp 19" widescreen monitor on craigslist for $20 so I'm all ready lol

/e and I'm not gonna get a gpu for now, going to either use the intel gfx or get something cheap on ebay until I can get an rx 480 or something

Well i would get an Rx 480 when it releases at the end of this month otherwise, the 150-200 dollar cards are sort of the sweet spot for performance on a gpu.
