looking to buy a laptop for traveling, have about 2 months of vacation time saved up and im about to move
i have 3k to spend now, but i dont think ill need a top of the line laptop, it will mainly be for league
also i plan on upgrading my desktop to 4k in the near future, probably after the move, towards september, so if theres a killer deal on a killer laptop for more than $1500 i'd be willing to break the budget as i can save up again

im thinking 960m should handle most games just fine? or should i get a 970?

I would recommend 970, theres a huge jump between the performance of the 960m and 970m.

I currently have a msi 15.6 with i7 6700hq, 960m, 8gb ram, 128gb ssd, 1tb hdd. Im abroad, working holiday in new zealand since 3 months back.

I would easily taken one with 970m to play some higher graphics single player games such as the witcher 3.

You will get i7, 970m for under 1500

good to know, thanks. I'm currently looking at newegg, only seem to have 2 options there. msi and alienware, the alienware is cheaper but msi has a ssd and more ram and a free backpack/mousepad which ill also need,

msi seems like the better deal, but ill check more than just newegg. I also find it odd that the laptops on newegg are cheaper than from alienware/msi websites

If its the msi ge62, everythings awesome except for the battery time. With some tweaks it might survive 3 hours with light browsing.

Cooling is the best i ever saw, so dont worry about it getting hot :)

Not from the us (sweden) so im not familiar with where to look to buy one, i guess the other ones will be able to sort you out with best price available

thanks for the help. i've had an alienware before and it got hot very quickly. i found an alienware on amazon for $1270 with 16gb ram 970m, 6700hq, and a 128gb ssd but its refurbished so idk if i want to risk that.

MSI has been doing laptops longer, but Gigabyte is a decent company as well.

You can check them both out on NotebookReview website.

Hint: 17.3 is annoying to travel with. 15.6 is just perfect!
