Budget: $2,500USD
More specific use (what games, what programs):Autocad 2016, Solidworks, Fusion 360, Office 2013. Light game usage if any at all.
Planned time until purchase: ASAP (Next 2-3days)
Do you need an Operating System?: No
Do you have any specific preferred components?: Intel and Nvidia
Do you need a sound or wireless card?: No sound card needed, and if the motherboard comes with built in wifi I'm fine with that but no its not needed.
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?: Overclocking, maybe a all in one waterloop (this is for a colleague)
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?: Decent 30"ish monitor and some nice but not crazy gaming mice/kb
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs): 32940 US
Was thinking 2 120GB SSD's in a raid 0 and 3TB WD HD for data
i7k or non k is fine.
16GB-24GB ram ( Is DDR4 cheap enough/worth getting yet?)
Graphics card I was thinking maybe 980?
Reserved stylish case, industrial looking maybe
Nice case fans as well.
If possible some sort of reserved color scheme to make it all look very well put together.
Thanks in advance everyone, you guys are awesome!
for those programs I would suggest getting a quadro gpu. good luck having them help if there are any performance issues otherwise. dealt with autocad on this personally and they were next to no help troubleshooting extreme performance issues because the gpu even though it fit the requirements wasn't on their recommended gpu list.

gaming gpu, 144hz monitor, cx power supply.. nope
if anything I would imagine he would want a 4k instead of 144hz for the programs he will be using. spend a little more on a cpu.. I use CX on builds for my parents and non gamers, but for the usage this computer is built for spend a few extra bucks and get something better. get a quadro not a gaming gpu especially since it will rarely be used for gaming
