Hi there, i built my first PC the other week and looking to overclock

I have a z170 mobo and a 6700K cpu 4.0

I can see whete to OC in the bios menu, and i have it OC'd to 4.4

Is it as easy as that? Is there a program that can correctly measure how its running now? Because when i check my pc 'specs' it says its running at 4.0

Thanks a lot, fellas

cpu-z will shot you the current clockspeed. But that CPU is capable of more.

depends on your cpu. Its called silicon lottery.
The cooler does not matter much as the skylake plattform does not run very hot. But around 4.6 to 4.7 is optainable within 1.2-1.4v.
1.5V is the max you should go.

1.5v is scary high

From everything I've read on 6700k, 1.45 is the upper limit of safe. Besides after there the heat produced gets insane.

Here's a good place to start.

You'll want to up your voltage / Clocks & then stress test using one of those programs listed for at least 4 hours minimum IMO, I usually do 6-8hours though.

If it crashes, Add a little more voltage. Repeat.
