Are you doing it just because you can? Or are you actually planning on using the features that come from rooting?

Well, i don't know much about the rooting features so I don't know if I should or not.

I use my phone for pretty basic stuff.

facebook, instagram, browsing, spotify, youtube, scheduling stuff on my calender, news updates.

I think one of the main reasons people do it is for battery life optimization as well as removing all the bloatware that comes on the phone

Aside from potentially bricking your phone (if you unplug it while flashing it) I dont really think theres a downside. Would like some more info as well if anyone has experience, been thinking of rooting my lg g4.

Is there like a go-to community or website for rooting phones? I remember back in the day when I got my first iPhone there was a site called sinfuliphone.com where you could get all the latest news and guides for jailbreaking your iphone

aside from what you stated bluntsGLI rooting gives you access to the systems files to modify anything you so choose.
just google your phone model and rooting. The sites for it are more for custom roms.

/edit also bricking occurs when it has a power failure not when you unplug it from a power source.

Use your phone for a while. If youre not happy, just root it. Dont root if you havent tried original first

yup, although haven't had any battery or other issues with s7 edge thus far, so no need to root.
