I basically bought this computer from a LAN shop owner. Came with a shitty processor that I needed to replace the 3rd day, out of my own expensives, because it can't run games like Path of Exile.
Bought my own SSD.

He charged me around 750$ for it, I'm sure I got ripped off..

Basically that new processor was one he recommended to me. I bought that along with the 16GB Ram and SSD.

Is this better than the 4960K that everyone highly recommends?

I'm also looking to fit in a GTX 980 TI, what else should I look at to upgrade before I buy these two items?

I will gladly donate fg if anyone can pm me help as well, as these days are limited to just a few days. So I want to learn as much as I can before rebuilding on my own.

Whats the reason you want a 980ti? Are you planning on playing at higher resolutions than 1080p? If not, you'll be fine with a 970 or R9 390. Save the money now and upgrade to Pascal or Polaris when they are released later this year.

As for the 4690k vs 6600k, the 6600k is about 10% faster when they're both compared at stock speeds. That said, the 6600k is newer tech and wont become dated as quickly as a 4690k. Since the 6600k is </= $25 more than a 4690k, I would just get a 4690k.

What other games do you play besides PoE?

Streaming dota 2, poe, gta5 and a few other games.

I want the 980 TI just because I want something that'll be good 5 years from now and not have to ever upgrade until I buy a new PC completely.

As far as i5 vs i7, I was told I don't need an i7 unless I'm into graphics design. That I'll never actually use it, thats why I was leaning towards the 6600K - I can get one new from ebay for 219$. ALmost the same cost as a 4690k

Well, there's really no way to "future proof" your computer, GPU most of all. A 980ti won't necessarily last any longer than say an R9 390. They both have plenty of VRAM to run things. Even a GTX 970 will last a few years if you never go above 1080p. GPU architecture changes in each generation as well as API changes and updates (like going from DX 11 to DX12) and quickly make your GPU seem like its ancient compared to newer models. As such, the GPU is usually the first part in your machine upgraded. A well built pc with quality parts can last 5 or more years with minimal upgrade. Most of the time, its just the GPU upgraded.

With that being said, the 980ti won't do you any good if you only run at 1080p. The card's power will be wasted and you'll essentially be spending money for no reason - just like buying an i7 over and i5.

You can get away with spending less than 1k.

You have enough headroom in the PSU if you end up wanting to add another video card to run crossfire if you wish to. Add $5 if you want the case with a window. Take off the optical drive if you don't need/want it. A lot of people don't use them, but some people do.

Id go with an Intel i7 5820k im running it, its a Six core they overclock like mad without water cooling... Great reviews. Check newegg... would also help for your future proofing! thats why i got one, and I am VERY happy with mine, Air cooled @ 4.5Ghz no issues. Also im running an ATI R9 390 8GB gpu.
