I just completed my first computer!

That being said, I'm having some issues getting it up and running.

I have:

Asus Z170-A Motherboard
16 GB DDR4 RAM
Intel i7-6700K CPU
Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB
Kraken Liquid Cooling, 750W PSU

Anyways, I got everything all good and plugged in, everything works, and the machine boots to the Asus UEFI BIOS Utility - EZ Mode.

I'm trying to install Win 7 Ultimate from a USB drive, but anytime I do anything related to booting the machine, it goes straight back to the BIOS screen.

I have a USB external Optical drive with the 100 chip set CD that came with the mobo, but it won't boot to that either.

Help :(

Since you can get to the bios, have you verified that it is displaying the hard drive correctly?

Try with only 1 stick of RAM, if it fails then try the other one

Lmk result :)

The hard drive does display on the right hand side of the BIOS, yes.

I'll try the one stick, but the bios does show that I have 16GB installed properly.

Whats your psu and wattage?

Keep gfx card disconnected and try to install again. Don't need it connected to install the OS.

Only have the USB key you need and the hard drive you will be installing to plugged with the mouse and keyboard, leave all other things unplugged ('cept your monitor of course)

Sorry, forgot to mention that I don't have a video card, just the on-board one right now.
I don't have anything else plugged in.

I think my issue is that secure boot is enabled?

Got it booted, but get a CD/DVD device driver is missing error. I tried moving the USB around, that doesn't work.

Did you use the Microsoft USB tool to create a bootable USB?

Yeah, the issue is that I have a Skylake system and installing Windows 7 on them is a nightmare apparently
