I have an ASUS ROG Laptop that I'm looking to install an m.2 SSD and use for bootup/programs and use the standard HDD for just storage. I got it on cyber monday and its been running great, just looking for that extra nice boot time

Seems like the samsung evo 850's are the most popular but just wondering if there is better for the same price? I have very limited knowledge on SSDs
I don't mind spending a little bit more for quality/reliablity
I don't need "the best one thats 5% better than all others at double the price" either, realiablity is more important to me

Just go with the Samsung.

Other brands you'd have to look and see if they make their own controllers and NAND.

ur looking for reliability and quality. While other ssd's are reliable too, the difference is that samsung backs up their word and fixes shit IF something goes wrong on their end.
they got no one else to blame but themselves.
