Trying to build my first machine.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/h8M93C

This is the list of parts I've compiled so far, but I'm missing a few things (most notably the video card).

I'm not a newb when it comes to computers, but I'm not an expert either. Therefore, I'm not sure if I have the best setup for what I want to accomplish.

I'll be playing:

Diablo 2
Diablo 3
World of Warcraft
Hearthstone
Magic Online

Otherwise, I'll be surfing the internet and doing schoolwork, etc.

I would like to have this machine be "timeless", in the sense that I can upgrade in the future, but it'll be able to handle additional tasks well without problems. I may pursue a career in web development, so I may use photo/graphic editing software in the future.

I will NOT be trying to render 3d graphics and streaming video at 4K ULTRAOMFGBBQ resolution or anything ridiculous like that.

I probably won't be overclocking my CPU (not sure what the point even is, or how to do it aside from going into your BIOS), so the cooling system is just for a powerful machine with poor ventilation where it'll be sitting.

I'd like to use two monitors as well, preferrably HDMI.

So.. Any suggestions are welcome, I do need a video card that won't break the bank (looking at you, titan X) but will be able to accomplish what I want. I was looking at the GeForce 970 chips with 2-4GB of memory.

If there's anywhere cheaper I can get the parts, that'd be great too.

Thanks!

Looks really good!

How much do you have left to spend on GFX? I'd diffidently buy a 4GB card. Either a GTX970 or if you have the money, go for 980.

Also, if you are not going to O/C Cpu I suggest you save some money and pick a i5 CPU instead.

390 > 970

i would probably still go i5
also i don't think the $15-20 difference between 3000 and 3200 ram is justifiable (that's just me though)

chose the 970 because EVGA and it was the cheapest card I would choose between 390/970 that I would purchase :)

also, blue-ray is a waste of money, unless you're the kind of person who buys bluerays ;)

I can probably get the i7 for dirt cheap during Intel's summer sales. Generally they sell those types of processors for like $100, so that's why I chose it.
The cooling system you linked is a lot cheaper, I feel like I'll need liquid since the tower won't be well-ventilated, but I'm not sure if overheating is a big problem if I'm not performing all kinds of crazy tasks?

I think you're right about the BR player, honestly. If I want to watch something I just torrent anyways, so I can save $50 there. I don't need an optical drive at all, to be honest, but I worry there will be a giant hole in the front of my case without one installed.

I looked at this card:

EVGA 04G-P4-2974-KR Superclocked ACX 2.0 GeForce GTX 970 4GB 1.17Ghz (76) $309.99

It's just about the same as the one you chose, just a different model subset (EVGA 04G-P4-2976-KR ACX 2.0).
What is EVGA? It only has 1 HDMI port, so I won't be able to dual-monitor? Unless I use 1 HDMI and 1 Display Port, which I think are the same quality, give or take. Dual-monitoring wouldn't happen for a while anyways, I don't have the desk space at the moment.

You can use HDMI and DVI, or HDMI and Display Port. Hell, you can even run three monitors on that card.

Next summer sale will be 4790K, 5820K and one other. They don't usually do newer CPUs unless they release Kaby Lake early.

What tier are you?
