My brother needs to upgrade his computer. I already know what gpu he needs so im set there

He has a 750w psu and a full tower case.

The ram is the one thing i need to keep and be able to use with the new mobo/cpu. I like the ram alot and he has 16gbs of it already.
so its necessary that it is compatible.

He has a budget of 400-500$
will buy in 1-2 months. more likely closer to 1month.

not sure if the motherboard or cooler will fit in your case, as we do not have specifics of the case/dimensions.

If you drive to one of the 2 Microcenters in Chicago, you can get a 6600k for $219 and $20 off any compatible Z170 motherboard.

he has the DDR3 already he would have to find an 1151 board with DDR3 support

But he could upgrade to DDR4 and still be well within budget.
