Fill this out so others know what they are building for.

Budget:
Maximum you will spend? -
Will you complete mail in rebates? -
If so, may we go over-budget if rebates bring you within budget? -
Do you need Windows Operation System within budget? -
Need a Monitor? / Mouse? / Keyboard within budget? -

Basic Info:
Specific Uses (Programs, game titles etc.) -
Country? -
Will you travel to NCIX (canada) or Microcenter (USA) for parts? (Null if unsure) -

How much hard drive space do you want or need? -
Will you use wireless or wired internet? -
Will you overclock CPU and/or GPU? -
Any special requests or useful things to tell us? (Specific case, need lots of storage, audio etc.) -

Style (optional)
Do you prefer any specific colors for the build/computer case? -
Do you prefer a window on your case? -
*(Please note how picky you will be with colors. Sometimes it's just not feasible to get some colors on certain parts)*

Well this is what you could get for around 1,2k http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6tjwNG but depending on your monitor this might be overkill.
Please let us know what monitor your using, which games you want to play and what your current setup is. Mostly you can reuse some of the parts.

first off thanks for the reply
would like to keep around 1200 and under but if mail in rebates are good enough to get to that id go 1.3-1.4 before rebate
could do mail in rebates yes
if windows fits into budget sure if not no big deal
nope don't need monitor/mouse keyboard my monitor is just my tv 48 in lg also have a HannsĀ·G HZ251HPB 25 in monitior

use will be everyday use from steam games to mmos, some fps and what not no specific game really
wired internet
no microcenters near me so all online ordering
storage is a good thing have 1 tb atm and most of it is used

colors are not a big deal at all if case looks cool awesome if not no big deal all about how it runs for me

This can be overclocked and features a 390X which would be slight overkill for MOBAs but if you got into AAA games then would be more than enough.

Also, based on Haswell, it's still good for quite a while as there hasn't been any significant improvements with Skylake even with DDR4. This is still considered a very practical gaming rig for most gamers out there.

It also fits within your budget and if you have a ODD from your old rig you could reuse. I don't use an internal and opt for an external drive so it frees up space for airflow. Just my preference.

Also, if needed you could always upgrade to an I7 for a little more and still fit within your budget.

Better build here for a few dollars more with newer components.

Its nice that he gave u a build with an i7 but for gaming u dont really need hyperthreading and ur getting older components.

Show me the distinct advantages of Skylake over Haswell for gaming with a dedicated GPU. My "older parts" still have the same performance as your newer build in most games available out there.

Also, the I7 was just put there to show that it was attainable within his budget.

The advantage of skylake is that it will be supported for the next years. In 1 or 2 years you cant get a new i7 4xxx anymore. So if you decide you want to upgrade your computer you have to buy a full new set of Main board, ram, processor. On the otherhand if you choose a skylake today, which comes at about the same price (slightly more expensive, but also slightly better performance) you still have this option in the future. So if your building a new computer you should always go for the newest platform unless it is significantly more expensive.

EDIT: Also Skylake performs about 8-16% (more IPC) better at the same clock speed then haswell which comes in handy when you overclock the CPU's to their limit.

CPU will last far past until the new lines are released. Some of us are running CPUs still that were made long before Skylake and still achieve the same, if not better, performance.

I'll put my 3930K against a 6700K any day.
