In your case i would not go with consumer grafic cards. These cards are optimised for gaming.
Quadro and FirePro cards usually do a lot better in "architecture stuff". But would be a lot easyer for is if you tell us what programms exactly your going to use.

Dell is building quite solid mobile work stations. http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/precision-laptops
but i cant recommend any, since i never personally used one.
