Hey guys, never posted in here before but thought i'd give it a try cus you seem to know what's up :)

I'm using my friends old computer right now which is great, but i guess since it's been used alot it makes alot of noise.

Like default sound levels, without anything running, are enough to be heard out of the living room and into the bed room. The fans aren't a soft hum, which would be fine, but almost a high pitched whirr, if that makes sens. This obviously gets kind of annoying if you want it running 24/7.

The only thing i need to be able to do with it is run diablo 2, and preferrably 8x d2 instances (yes, with some illegal program to keep the characters moving when i'm not there). So i don't need any extra power for new games or anything like that. The most important thing is that it makes a minimum amount of noise -- like, are there extra silent fans? Any way to optimise the case to need fewer fans? Any particular parts that make less sound than the same parts from other brands? etc

I imagine this should be cheap because i don't want a great computer, just one that can fit my needs, and i really don't want to spend more than necessary.

Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks alot for the help

Most likely you just have a lot of dust on your heat spreader. Did you ever cleaned it?

If so, then get a better cooler and other / more fans.
A great cpu cooler is the Macho X2 -> http://www.amazon.com/Thermalright-MACHO-X2-Macho/dp/B00ZGDWUO0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1454423322&sr=8-1&keywords=Thermalright%20Macho%20X2
It is super quite. But it is huge. Make sure you got enough space and your RAM is not to close to your prozessor.

For Case fans everything under 20dba is okay. If you add more fans make sure your main board has enough sysFan headers. otherwise you have to get a fan controller.

You don't need one. You can just get molex adapters and plug them into the PSU.

But then you have to open your pc whenever you want to change the fan speed. And a fan controller costs like 12$. But you can go both ways ofcourse.
