Hey guys, I have a computer I use mostly for gaming.
It's about 4 years old and had someone build it for me. I know absolutely nothing about computers

Anyway I was hoping to upgrade my video card to a really nice one but I was told I would probably have to upgrade other parts of my PC as well. Can anyone give me some advice and dumb it down significantly? I really don't understand computers.

Edit:

I don't really have a budget because I don't really know how many parts I have to replace, but hopefully no more than 600-700 dollars

I am hoping to play Ark: Survival Evolved on at least high settings, epic would be amazing though.

Should add a budget and what game you play or want to play. That way people know what they are working with.

Realistically you'd want to upgrade the cpu as well.

So you'd need new cpu/mobo/gpu

you probably wont be able to run epic no matter what, because the game is just not so optimized, but im not sure if it's gotten better since I last checked. X)

You'll need to reinstall windows with a new cpu/mobo.

in the event you are buying later, please come back and ask about a GPU, as prices may change and open up better deals.

if you wanyted to do minimal updates, with a boost in performance (sticking with AMD):

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/XzDmYJ

your processer is okay, saying it will do the job to run everything as required; up to you wether you want to upgrade it or not..

however.. your ram and vid card definately need to be upgraded.. everything else is fine

e/ i dont think you even really need to go as high as a 390.. im sure a 370/80 would be more than enough for your needs

Most of your parts are quite okay.
I would not spend to much on this build since it wont become an epic gaming mashine anyway.
I would go with the parts Canadian_Born suggested, but you can save the 75$ on the RAM. It simply does not effect gaming performance. -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWgzA2C61z4
