My goal is to stay under 700ish dollars, the cheaper is better always of course but i can go over if needed also.

I have been out of the computer building world for about 6 years so im far behind, I prefer AMD > intel, and ASUS mobos, want to stick with dd3 memory.

I have no idea what good anymore on mobos, ram, etc.

Also would it be smarter to put my operating system on a SSD and have multiple HDDS for storage?

Any tips help

You say it has been a while since you build a computer, and yet you seem to have inside informations most of us dont have.
Haven't heard anyone say latly that AMD > Intel. Also please share your knowledge about why ddr3 ram is better.

If you want a example build please tell us:
Maximum you will spend?
Specific Uses (Programs, game titles etc.) ?
Games - settings + resoltion you want to play on?
Do you have a old computer? If yes let us know whats inside. Not everything might be trash.
Any special wishes or needs?

the cheaper is better

Base Total: $267.70
Promo Discounts: -$5.99
Mail-in Rebates: -$10.00
Shipping: $1.99
Total: $253.70

is that cheap enough?

I just prefer amd > intel for price reason, and I feel AMD works better overall for gaming needs.

DDR3 is better for the same reason, the benchmarks for ddr4 are not much higher for the price differences. I learned a lot from watching this guy.

My current computer is being scrapped, its just getting old and clunky

yes. you are right. always base your purchase decision based on prices presented in over 1 year old video. that seems so plausible.

As in my original post:

AMD > Intel
Under 700 if possible but I can go over if needed.
DDR3
ASUS mobo
I asked about SSD vs HDD

And I stated already also:
-My old computer is being scrapped entirely
-A gaming computer in general, all games rely mostly on the same features, fast processing and fps.

And cpus are 3 years old with no technological improvements just constant rebranding.

Intel > and any day and with $700 that's easily achievable
Also, ddr3 < ddr4

You're more out of the loop than you think.

Any uses for this comp before I put together a build?

If you can upgrade my items to what you believe are better by all means do it, It's been almost 8 years since I've built a computer lol.

I am mostly concerned with gaming and keeping up with games coming out (survival games mostly), i do a little bit of music production also (this isnt entirely needed as my old one still does it fine still), also I have a few giant extrenals with all my movies that host to other systems in my house.

Mainly a everyday computer thats the best it can be at gaming

e2 - I would like to have graphics card/s also, no onboard (my current is a 9600gt, thats how old it is)

No it does not. There are very grafical intense Games (Crysis Series for example) out there as well as CPU intense games (Minecraft or City:Skylines)
Also a build for a 1440p monitor might look very different from a build for an old 1366*768 monitor simply because you need 4 times as much GPU power.

Edit: This is what you can get for below 700$. Good enough for 1080p gaming on medium settings.
