Maybe something like this?
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/wDQrdC

Kinde jeaulous how cheap stuff is in the US. build costs like 850.
Operating system should not be bougth. Dont you have some kind of win 7 license lying around? If not just buy a used win 7 license and use the free update.
Leaves like 150$ for the monitor. Go for a 1080p monitor. If you need more money for the monitor then downgreade the grafics card to a 2gb 380 or 2gb 960 and simply replace the Grafics card in 2 years. Also the prozessor can be downgreaded to i5 6400 without THAT big of a performance losses.

whats even worse is people that email you and that is pretty much all they send with some very basic unhelpful information. used to do work for a place and I swear the lady would always email me with a subject of "HEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP" and in the body it would say "internet isn't working"
obviously it is working because you just emailed me from your computer. but whatever I charged for trip and time so I would go out there and it would end up a link on a website was broken or some other random crap like that.
so glad I don't do that anymore.. lol

How does this look?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/q3j6kL

edit: You don't need to be worried about items being shipped. Items that have a real chance of being damaged by physical force are packaged well (hard drives come in bubble tube envelopes). Other components aren't really in danger from the typical shipping trauma.

Lastly, there is no Microcenter in Tennessee that I know of, so no worries there :) .
