Have not bought parts yet and was wondering if i should change my build to be compatible with ddr3 or ddr4 memory

It all depends on how much you want to spend and what you're using your computer ...for.

There's no real NEED for a DDR4 build, but it is the latest platform.

Actually there is. If you heavily program/Video Encode/Photoshop/ETC it does help quit a bit.
